Starts "Edo ni Hikari Daimaru Yuri" ！.

In order to further attract domestic and international travelers, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has begun this fiscal year to provide support to areas that create townscapes with an Edo-style atmosphere and refine content utilizing Edo culture and traditions.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the "Edo ni Hikari Daimaru-yu" initiative in the Daimaru （ Otemachi ・ Marunouchi ・ Yurakucho ） area, which was adopted this fiscal year.

Overview of the "Edo ni Hikari Daimaru Ari" initiative
The Daimaru area is surrounded by Edo Period symbols such as the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station, and coexists with Western-style architecture of the Meiji Period. Since the Meiji Restoration, the area has developed as a center of economic activity, but in the Edo period, it was a samurai estate with vast rows of daimyo residences.

As new content to convey the charm of Edo that only Daimaru-Yu can offer, various events will be held to shed "light" on the history of Edo and update traditional Edo sentiments for the modern age.

1. January 9, 2025 (Thursday) ～ January 31 (Friday) at Marunouchi Naka-dori Avenue
- Daimyo family crests to give a sense of an Edo period daimyo's residence ・ Japanese pattern banner flags and lanterns

2. January 17(金) ～ January 19(日) at Gyoko-dori Avenue
-Exhibition of three-dimensional Wagasa illumination

<令和7年1月17日(金)17時> Holding ceremony events
-Wagasa illumination lighting ceremony, Wagasa making workshop, Japanese musical instruments and Japanese dance performances, kitchen car stalls, etc.

3. February 1, 2025 (Sat.) ～ February 28 (Fri.) at Gyoko-dori Underground Gallery
-Colorful Wagasa illumination with Edo tradition ・ Andon installation

4. March 3, 2025(月3日) ～ March 7 (Fri) at Otemachi area
- Exhibition of seasonal Wagasa illumination in the form of cherry blossoms and flower patterns
