小学生のころ、夏休みというと駄菓子屋さんで花火を買ってきて家の前で近所の友だちと楽しんだことを思い出します。
もちろんバケツに水を用意して。
当時、花火が幾らくらいしたのか記憶は定かではありませんが、お小遣いが潤沢であったわけではなかったですから、小銭を握りしめてお店で一本単位であれこれ選んだ記憶があります。
ラストの定番は「ドラゴン」と言う小さい箱型の花火。
火をつけるとシューと約2メートルの炎が上がる仕掛けで、「フィナーレを飾るのはこれ」と決めていました。
役所の若い職員に「今、花火はどこで買うの？」と聞いたら「コンビニかスーパーで買います」との返答。
袋に入ってセットで売っているアレですね。
バラエティに富んではいるのでしょうが、少ないお小遣いで一本一本吟味してバラ買いしたあの緊張感と醍醐味を味わえないのは、もったいなく感じてしまいますね。
ちなみに当時の駄菓子屋さんは、夏はかき氷、冬はもんじゃで大繁盛でした。
もんじゃはうどん粉（多分）にソースが入っただけのごくシンプルなもので、10円だったでしょうか。
最近の具沢山なもんじゃしか知らない世代には、似て非なるものかもしれませんね。
ちなみに、都バスの子ども運賃も10円だった時代のお話です。
