History and Folklore Museum, Special Exhibition "The Great Kanto Earthquake recorded 100 years after the occurrence" (Japanese only)

This exhibition introduces the damage at that time, people's activities ・ and their stories, and the affected areas and people's efforts toward reconstruction through more than 40 items, including 13 newly collected materials.

This year marks exactly one hundred years since the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.
The Great Kanto Earthquake was an unprecedented disaster that struck Tokyo and other metropolitan areas, causing widespread damage rarely seen in Japanese history, including numerous casualties and collapsed buildings. The damage caused by the earthquake and people's experiences were recorded in a variety of media, and these are valuable documents that clearly convey the situation at the time.
