Special Exhibition "150th Anniversary of Education in Meguro: Gathering Schools - From the Past to the Present
This special exhibition will focus particularly on the relationship between the elementary school and the community and the perspective of children in the 150 years that the people of Meguro have been living in the area, and will include not only historical materials but also many photographs and a reproduction of a classroom from the Showa period.
Yakumo Elementary School, the oldest elementary school in the district, opened in 1874 (Meiji 7 （ 1874 ）). This year, 2023, marks the 150th anniversary of education in Meguro. To commemorate this milestone, we will hold a special exhibition looking back on the history of education in Meguro.
This special exhibition will focus particularly on the relationship between elementary schools and the community and the perspective of children in the 150 years that the people of Meguro have walked the path, and will display not only historical materials but also many photographs, as well as a reproduction of a classroom from the Showa period.
We hope you will visit the museum to look back on the history of the place of learning where you have spent and are spending your time, and to view this exhibit as an opportunity to think about what education means to us all.
